It has taken the Philippine meme-scene by storm!
Albert Mangapit, 25 years of age, call center agent, just wanted to earn some extra cash. Unfortunately, his business enterprise got busted in Antipolo City. Albert got caught with marijuana that was identified by its premium name: “top buds”
Villaflor Bannawagan, Antipolo Police
“Magaling din eh dahil ‘yung mga kino-conduct niya ‘yung mga medyo kabisado na niya. ‘Yung isang asset nga natin ganon din nagumpisa… Ito yata ‘yung ginagamitan nila ng pipe.”
Usually, things should end here. But the media got involved, and an interview was conducted. A meme was born.
According to Albert, his income as a call center agent was enough to make ends meet, but he believes that the more money he earns, the more things he can accomplish.
“There’s a lot of things you can do about money and from that… maybe I can change the Philippines, run for politics.”
And here is the clincher.
“Advanced ako mag-isip, look at Antipolo… how much is the land area of Antipolo unused, good for farming marijuana. Marijuana can produce plastics that can decay in 90 days, marijuana can cure cancer.”
The rest as they say is history.
Here are some tweets that came after the infamous GMA 24 Oras interview.
